Writing in Cafes & Pubs

A community writing workshop, held annually over 6 weeks in the summer months (generally). The purpose of the workshop is to reach writers who have been carrying around stories in their heads, stuffing them in desks, or sharing them with family members. We take these stories and read them each week, giving and gaining feedback, working on craft, culminating in a public reading of works-in-progress. How to go about publishing work is also discussed.

    08/13/08	Literary Reading Urban Stampede Literary Reading Presented by Writing in Cafes & Pubs at Urban Stampede August 13, 2008 Participants in "The Word Shop" and "Writing Yourself Home," will read their fiction, essay, and poetry.
    06/05/08- 07/10/08	The Word Shop Family Institute Suites The Word Shop Presented by Writing in Cafes & Pubs at Family Institute Suites June 5-July 10, 2008 THE WORD SHOP - 6 WEEK WRITING WORKSHOP FOR FICTION AND ESSAY WRITERS June 5th - July 10th, Thursdays, 6:30 - 8:30 p.m. Dust off old manuscripts, jump start your writing life, generate new ideas, and gather feedback in a small group setting. Cost: $100. Location: 2100 Columbia Road above Bon Voyage Travel in the Family Institute suites. Facilitated by Kathy Coudle King, novelist, essayist and playwright. She has 15 years experience teaching writing at the university level.
    06/02/08- 07/07/08	Writing Yourself Home Family Institute Suites Writing Yourself Home Presented by Writing in Cafes & Pubs at Family Institute Suites June 2-July 7, 2008 WRITING YOURSELF HOME - 6 WEEK WRITING WORKSHOP FOR WOMEN June 2 - July 7th, Mondays, 6:30-8:30 p.m. We will explore a woman's journey through group writing and sharing. A safe, encouraging environment in which women can connect with and share their stories. Facilitated by Kathy Coudle King, novelist, essayist and playwright. She has 15 years experience teaching writing at the university level, as well as more than 10 years as a women studies instructor.
    04/24/06- 04/25/06	Poetry and Fiction Reading Seasons Restaurant Poetry and Fiction Reading Presented by Writing in Cafes & Pubs at Seasons Restaurant April 24-April 25, 2006 Poetry and fiction reading, with an open mic to follow to headliners from the winter Writing in Cafes Workshop: Denise Lajimodiere and Sarah Bloch.
