Crimson Creek Players present the Broadway Sensation "Sweet Charity" at the Burtness Theatre (on UND Campus) June 13-16 and 20-23, 2007. Have you ever known a girl who wanted something so badly, that she tried too hard to get it? Meet Charity, the girl who wants to be loved so much, that she has lost sight of who she is. Charity sings, dances, laughs and cries her way through romances with the "animal magnetism" hero, the "ultra-chic continental" hero, and the "impossible-to believe-but-he's-better than nothing" type hero. Her world is the all too real world of Times Square, and the people who pass through her world are as deceptively charming a group as ever swept across any stage. From her cynical, hard-core trio of girlfriends at the dance hall, to the phony evangelist, the Coney Island "fun people", the Central Park "strollers" and the YMHA "self-improvers," every character is interesting. This is a bright and sophisticated show in every sense. Wonderful musical numbers include Big Spender, If My Friends Could See Me Now, Too Many Tomorrows, There's Gotta Be Something Better Than This, I'm a Brass Band and Baby, Dream Your Dream.       Opening night was brimming with laughter - in spite of a few minor technical glitches. The cast was incredibly strong - especially Misty Koop (Charity) and Darin Kerr (Oscar). So much talent on the... Expand

      Opening night was brimming with laughter - in spite of a few minor technical glitches. The cast was incredibly strong - especially Misty Koop (Charity) and Darin Kerr (Oscar). So much talent on the stage! The staging of Fosse's choreography by Christenson was spot on and wonderful - what a treat to see young performers achieve such brilliant and difficult movement. The Backstage with the Arts was a special treat - to get to meet some of the actors, the director, and the producer... and get a peek behind the process of putting a Crimson Show together - after hearing that there are only 12 days of rehearsal and that the musical director (who also conducted and played piano) had an emergecy surgery half way through - causing the hiring of a new conductor, pianist and trumpet player only five days before opening - i was even more impressed. Crimson is an amazing troupe of movement, voice and talent - and Sweet Charity is well worth your time! Get to the Burtness and see! Collapse
