Led by Sue Fink.

Sue Fink is the Director of Art Education at the North Dakota Museum of Art. From Minnesota, Sue has lived in many places, earning her Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in sculpture at Oregon’s Museum Art School. Sue has been painting, drawing and printing ever since. Her project will be limited to students ages 13 and older. Using the work of artist Chuck Close as a starting point, students will learn to make their own realistic paintings using Close’s technique, one which he developed and still uses despite his struggle with a debilitating disease. (This camp has an option for campers who travel a distance to stay in residence halls on campus)

Summer Arts Camps are a time for youth to use their imaginations. Kids will have the time of their lives creating and imagining alongside artists. Each week brings a different artist or artists with new themes and projects. Children learn how to develop an artwork based upon everyday experiences using the basic elements of art, while integrating all kinds of ideas. No art experience is needed. Days are full of fun!

Tuition for each week-long camp is $135 for non-members and $120 for members. No places will be held without payment. Limited scholarships are available based upon need. “Close-Up” Painting cost is $135/120 for commuters (those who are not staying in residence halls) or $300 total for those staying in halls with a 3 meal plan.
